Wohooo! managed to install new (used) rear caliper, and change both rear discs and pads. And the brakes still work
All I can say is rewinding 10 year old rear calipers is a pig of a job. That first turn until they get going is almost impossible unless you are a body builder.
I think it helped to open up the bleed valve to let the fluid out locally, it just wouldnt budge with the bleed valve closed. It doesnt help that you cant hold the caliper properly whilst its still attached to the cables/hoses.
When I add up all the tools I had to buy (new torque wrench thats more accurate, etc), plus the discs and pads, the whole job comes to around £250.
(Febi discs were only £40 from incarmotorfactors, Bosch pads were only £12 from ebay)
Still its very satisfying to do a job yourself.

Well they don't fit, and the handbrake cable connection is in a different place.

I'll happily send them on to you if you want it'll save me sending them back

I know it's hard to see from the pic's but if you look at the jaw opening, 2 pads and a vented disc to go in there. They would be fully rewound wouldn't they???

Is it a sport? Just wondering how many options there are.

Now i didn't look at the part numbers on the calipers but the one's on the car have 43 embossed on them (the same as the fronts) the set i just bought from the link have 38 embossed, is this the pot diameter?

If it were that would answer a question i asked a while ago when i was playing around with the fronts, as i had 2 Lucas calipers with 43 on them but were for 2 different size discs i.e. 314mm from my 4.2 sport and 323mm (from an S)

Nope just a plain old normal 2.8 with simple 2wd and with big squishy arm chairs and comfy suspension. There were also 2 different sized vented discs because the wrong ones showed up first time I ordered some.
