Yup, you could make it from just legal to that in a few days quite easily in that car, so it could well have legally passed, but it should definitely been marked as an advisory.....

I disagree .....I use my dealer and get the free mot offer not all dealers are c**p some are quite good and before anyone says anything about old cars!!!! My dealer services my RS 6 ( as well as unit 20 ) and my urqs

bit of a C5 trait to wear the tyres on the shoulders before the middle - I rotated mine last year and got a nice little advisory on my MOT recently to say both inner and outer edges all round are worn! Still got 3-4mm of tread over most of the tyre.

Doesn't help that the car does mainly town work so I'm currently debating with myself on whether to stick some Vred's on it rather than replacing like-for-like with Michelins again. Current set have done 16k miles and counting!

Amar - if you use your car's full potential on any tracks while you're away you can pretty much expect to be needing to replace those F1s when you get back lol

I too get my s8 MOT'ed free at the main dealer- this year it failed on bulbs (which I should have noticed), and they replaced these, didn't cost much...

It may be that not all the dealers are c**p, but i dont have much faith in Leeds Audi since i took my car there with a component protection issue, they denied all knowledge of what i was talking about, never heard of it, dont know what your talking about, but offered to look at the car for x pounds an hour - in 2 weeks time, (Warrington Audi said something similar). in the end Craigyb got me in at manchester audi the next day, who, did know and got it fixed in 30 minutes.

for MOTs I think i will stick to the little guys not interested in doing loads of work.

We've got a chain of garages down here in the South East called justmots.eu that ONLY do MOTs and no servicing/repairs at all. They'll adjust your headlight aim FOC but won't touch much else.

They charge £27 if you book 90 days ahead, which I usually manage to do - otherwise it's £38. Because they take bookings (incl on Saturdays) you can take it in and it's done while you wait with no messing about.

I used to spend half a Saturday queuing up at a local place that didn't take bookings and charged way more

I took advantage of the 'FREE' MoT at the local Aberdeen dealership as it was it's first Annual Inspection.

I got an advisory for lower link bushes - "may need renewing at next Inspection."

I disputed that with them as any movement should be a fail. Seems the 'FREE' bit stops them doing work in this case. I'm sure if I'd been paying for the MoT that job would have become mandatory!

You mean inside shoulder? Its not just C5 but pretty much all Audi models( and Passat) that share similar suspension setup experience this problem as suspension ages or if is lowered. If You mean both shoulders then it is because of too little tyre pressure or too wide tyres for the rim.

I am sure it is just inside on Amars car because:
1. If it were both shoulders he would have shown both in picture
2. If it was that bad on outside as well he surely would have noticed that earlier.

Be carefull when buying tyres they don't have an outside then, those Amar has run down to the wires have an inside so couldn't be rotated just moved to the back.

Amar if you've not had these renew'd yet do your tyre fitter a favour and tell him before he undoes the wheel nuts and grabs the wheel with both hands. As i can tell you from experience it hurts loads.

Oh and if Mr Plod had seen those you could hae been in for 3 points and a fine regardless of who long you been driving, it's your responsibility to check, "Mr MOT would just say they must have been changed after i tested it" (depending where you go) and TBH the rest of the tyre doesn't look like it's got much life in it anyway.

I used to get this on the 8 but i had the tracing adjusted slightly (tow in) to cancel out the affect
