Default Retrofit Ski hatch?

Has anyone retorfitted a Ski Hatch? I miss the ability to carry the odd length of timber/copper, so was wondering if anyone had done this and if there are any gotchas?
cheers

Can be done, but it needs the hole cut in the panel behind the seats.

Maybe... Not sure if the seat back needs changed or not... never looked into it in a D3.

Default Very simple retrofit

Just to follow up on my own question, it is a pretty easy retrofit.
All that is needed is to remove the cover trim from behind the armrest - it just pulls out from under the seat back. Pull out the soundproofing, which is already cut and reveal the hole in the bulkhead filled with a plastic filler. You can wiggle the plastic out through the front once it has been unclipped.

Then carefully cut the carpet covering the rear bulkhead using the hole as a cutting guide and push the hatch in from the boot. It just clips in just like the plastic cover that you have just removed.

Most of the used ski hatches i saw did not seem to include the trim piece that covered the front edge between the hatch and he seats, so will need to be ordered separately at huge cost if not supplied- this is the only real gothcha.

All in it probably took about 45 minutes from start to finish and well worth doing.

I'm retrofitting ski hatch now and there's one thing I don't understand. The hatch has a magnet from the boot side. I understand the magnet is designed to hold hatch in place when opened. But magnet doesn't work with aluminium... When hatch opens the magnet is at awkward angle to chassis so it can't engage with anything.

What that magnet is for?

Also got a part called "stop plate cover" that came with the hatch:

I don't understand where should I use that "stop plate cover". Because it is made of metal I make conclusion it should work with a magnet

Confused a bit.
