Hi There,

My current S8 has heated rear seats. I've yet to drive it from the back though. I think two passengers in 3.5yrs have used them.

I also have autodimming mirrors which is a complete waste as the rear has tints and so they never operate. To be fair I'd be tempted to get one tinted at the rear as it is so useful not being fussed about what is on the back seat. No one dazzles you. Does look a bit gangster though! Downside is I've had to wind the window down to stick my hand up to say thanks/sorry before!

I'm not too bothered about the colours. Purple could be fun, but it is a bit garish and not a patch on BMW's Techno violet.

I do miss the auto dimming rear view mirror (but not the door mirrors), but I've got one ready to install and, unless you're a purist (Ian will be along in a moment!) then wiring and installation are pretty simple apparently.

As to the leather, they always look better in the flesh, so to speak (although I've not seen a 'morning dew' car. The red and purple are pretty funky and much less garish than they often appear in photos.

Owned both, more D3's than anything and I love D3's.

Awesome awesome cars, strong engines on LPG (Mines done over 100k on gas!) and just get the one that suits you.

Personally.... buy Guy's black W12 and gas it. Nice.

I concur.

Added an auto-dim interior mirror and don't miss the external one's in the slightest.

Thread somewhere, but I found a suitable pair of accessible wires in the sunroof feed that did the job. Earth is easy and live was something that was basically ignition-linked but had a small "on" delay to allow you to close things on exit. Multimeter is your friend.

2003 D2 FL S8. Irish Green Pearl/Beige. Solar sunroof, auto-dim mirrors, electric rear seat functions and extended leather. Ski hatch retrofit. Aftermarket reversing camera. DVB-T and XCarlink now removed as redundant.
2016 Volvo V40 T5 Cross Country (4WD) with ALL the toys including adaptive cruise etc. etc. Osmium Grey with Blonde/Charcoal leather interior. Polestar performance "optimisation". (Even rarer than a D2 S8!) Oh, and a brand new engine at just under 30,000 miles on the factory one!
Finally: gone, but not forgotten.....
1998 D2 PF S8. Agate Grey/Platinum. Every option (I think) except electric rear seats, Tiptronic steering wheel, ski hatch, towbar & dimming door mirrors.
e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course. (internal dimming mirror added later)
1998 (very early) Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec; ABS/TCS, Heated screen/mirrors, Aircon. Added Auto-dim mirror, Leather seats, Trip computer, Cruise control, OEM Ford SatNav with CD changer.
And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850!
