Drove 200 miles up north to Chester Transmissions (http://www.transcentre.co.uk/) and did the 'Service Plus'.
Specialisation goes a long way. You immediately see the difference between specialised service and generic service -- equipment and skills. They remove line from oil cooler and connect machine there. On A8 D2 you don't have to remove bumper for this. Only undertray is removed. Magic machine works in two liter increments. Two liters out first, then two liters in. Engine doesn't have to be running. It took 11 liters of fluid to do the change. Was impressed when they removed sump and immediately chemically cleaned it with specialised equipment. Then, because they know gearbox sumps get rusty, they striped paint from bottom of the sump with another machine. Then they paint bottom of the sump while other guy is actually changing oil. While you wait. You drive away with clean and painted sump. ![]() I came to Chester Transmissions with one of 27 sump bolts broken off. This is because idiots from Reading Audi left the broken sump bolt in my gearbox without even telling me last time I changed oil there. Reading Audi tried to drill the remains of the bolt out, but of course they only damaged area around the bolt even more. So this time I brought all new bolts (which I didn't have to do because Chester Transmissions had them), my broken bolt was removed, area was repaired with a special re-threading kit. All bolts are in place now. It took 3 and half hours to do the whole thing, that included fixing the bolt. Since initially I planned to change gearbox fluid myself I purchased all Audi genuine parts for my 5HP19 quattro gearbox (gearbox code FBB) and brought them with me: 1. 11 liters of transmission fluid: G052162A2 2. 27 sump bolts: WHT 000 747 3. Transmission fluid strainer: 01V325429 4. Transmission fluid strainer gasket: 01V325443 5. Sump gasket: 01V321371 6. Sump plug sealing washer: 01V321379 7. Drain plug with sealing washer: 01V321377 You don't need to buy parts of you go there. Very happy. Pictures of magic machine, connections to oil cooler lines and my sump right after removal.

Great write up thanks Sergey
![]() I've moved the relevant posts to a separate thread in D2 Transmission as we had a mix of D2 and D3 discussions going and and have made this a sticky for future reference - can you re-post the pics you placed up the correct way around? lol Cheers ![]()

Neil, don't know what to do with pics. They show correctly on my computer. I only discovered that they are upside down when I uploaded them to forum. Pictures were taken with iphone and it seems it was 'upside down' at that moment. But iphone has magic sensor and it embeds information about iphone position in the picture. All Mac software I have is aware of sensor information in the picture, so picture is always shown correctly. I don't know exactly what to do now since I need to learn how to strip sensor information from picture first.
