Default Tail Pipes

Chatting to a friend about general car stuff and he mentioned about his tail pipes that he made for his Allroad.
Nothing special, looks almost standard but larger so it feels the bumper a little better.
I said I'd like some larger tail pipes but not sure what.
Left it at that and thought no more about it.
couple of weeks later he sent me these pics.

5mm thick (I think) 90mm tubing that's been machined thinner and polished.
They are about 7" long.

I popped after work one day to take a look see what they look like.
Quick test fit and I'm rather happy with the look.
Little bit different but a better size for the size of the A8.

They did not stay like that for long.
Long enough for me to take that picture and they was removed.

Popped in last night to get my old pipes removed and get these fitted.

The tool to remove the old pipes.

Pipe/s off.

Old vs new.

I've not seen the old tail pipes off the exhaust, this is what they look like.

Gave them a bit of a polish.

I was having issues deciding what sort of end I wanted on the tips.
Keep them flat/round or slash cut them.
Decided on a slight slash but then which way?
Follow the bumper, down, left, right, up, what about DTM style?

After several minutes of chatting and test fitting we/I decided on a downward slash.
I think.............if I don't like it we can remove them and redo them, so no bigy.

Cutting.

Side cut?

Down cut?

In the end I decided on this.

Down with a slight cut and sticking out 10mm ish.

Slight issue happened though.

We ran out of time and had to vacate the workshop.

The exhaust tips on my car now looks like this.

Commute tomorrow and then no more driving till next week.
In the time my mate will be making up some backing plates for the pipes to make it easier to weld on to the car and give the tips another polish and clean up of the ends.

Its been a while cause we've been waiting on the laser cutting cutting out the mounting discs for the tips but he's been slacking on making them so we made something to get them fitting in time for the MOT.

I doubt its a fail to not have the tips but I'd rather have them fitted.

I think they look better than the downturn pipes and better than the original test fit. Little less wheelbarrow as Peach put it.

I'll get some more pics when the proper discs are fitted.
