A7 reasonable choice
I was thinking about S8 with v10 engine.....looked online they seem problematic See on eBay now there is a s8 with engine problem, on audisrs forum S8 problems, even on youtube you can find s6's with engine problems, my mate had s6 engine died on him Probably there are not to many rs6's around so we cannot find much about their problems, but surely twin turbo is taking some life of it. Friend of mine is picking up s8 next weekend- will see how he gets on. Already asked him to join the forum he he RS6 Nice nice toy but I would keep the a7

I'm ready to be flamed for suggesting this, test drive a used C63, and if you can find one the coupe version. Same sort of price range.
It should accelerate faster than the stock C6 RS6 (the coupe at least) and I think it will be a much more reliable and less maintenance heavy car. Nice big NA V8, chain driven, cant go wrong. Plus the coupe is something like 1730kg vs RS6's 2100kg so should handle better? I know what you mean though, I was blown away by Amar's RS6, that thing takes off like a jet fighter, and that was with 4 people in the car. I think his is heavily tuned. Or sacrifice that hyperdrive acceleration and get a nice cheap D3 W12. Isn't the brake disc & pad service for the RS6 a ridiculous £6k, and that's just for the parts. That's a W12 right there. Goran, if you thought mine was fast before. I had MRC tweak it some more (1026NM at around 3k RPM) and now it's genuinely fecking terrifying, I could cope with it previously, now it's like another car, you can't drive it with the ESP off in the wet, and even with it on all four wheels will momentarily light up at 40/50mph when you're really going for it.
I spent a few days testing the new facelift A7 in Germany, and the competition which includeded various Mercedes - such crappy quality, their media interfaces are so far behind and illogical. (is that a word?), plus in the marketplace they seem to retain feck all value compared with Audi and are impossible to change out of because of Mercedes' inflated RV values, there's a reason they're 20k units behind Audi this year in the UK alone, with the gap increasing daily. Sorry, largely irrelevant rant ^^ but I struggle to see the appeal of them. (Bar some of the black series models.) Ian, it's a tough one. The A7 wafts around really nicely, and yours has some mega spec - the C6 with it's 3G MMI WILL feel dated coming from a car with Audi Connect/Google Earth, also, I can't see your sig as I type this, but I believe you'll have the ZF 8 Speeder? The 6 speeder in the C6 is a gem but having run the ZF8 speed on company cars the C6 will never feel as crisp in comparison so if it's a daily commute car, where you're unable to enjoy the performance of the 5.0TT, the A7 might be more suitable? Don't get me wrong, the C6 is a great package. Very well built, massively reliable, rare, fast, cool and even though I get to drive some really cool Audi's with my new job - I've not contemplated selling, it'll be two years of ownership next month. Spec wise, bar mine I don't think there's many hugely loaded ones. However, there's someone who's owned one from new on RS246 Sepang, with silver interior Avant, immaculate and detailed regularly which Audi have just agreed to buy off him, I'd get to that one before it goes (Fri). Almost forgot, the C7 S6 would be perfect. All the tech you're used to, S Tronic 4.0TT with cylinder on demand for fairly decent MPG, max I've ever seen from mine on a long run is 22.4 - and I was taking it easy, 70-80MPH with the ACC on.
