If the water is sitting at the bottom of the unit it might just be easier to push a this hose/pipe down from the pollen filter or the vents as suggested.

I know this is a D3 (not a D2) but I find this a bit mystifying.
Unless the ventilation system has a completely different design to the D2 it will be designed to let any water/condensation run out via the drains. On a D2 it's very easy for blocked plenum drains to overflow into the HVAC unit, and the debris then causes blockages, but it can be drained without dismantling. Why would a D3 be different? If that's what it really is it will either "slosh" out (usually over your feet!) with a bit of energetic driving and/or slowly evaporate. Are you sure it's not something else, such as a big air bubble in the plumbing or a blockage not dealt with?

(internal dimming mirror added later)1998 (very early) Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec; ABS/TCS, Heated screen/mirrors, Aircon. Added Auto-dim mirror, Leather seats, Trip computer, Cruise control, OEM Ford SatNav with CD changer. And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850!

apparently the engineer got drenched doing the drains, it may be that it will evaporate if we get a few days of hot weather, or i will try the thin hose and vacuam cleaner as per the d2 video on youtube
