Seems that size was specific for Bosch alternators and nothing else

I finally managed an hour free to get the alternator off and changed the bearing.

Now it's nice a quiet... Shame I've still got a whine from the front of the engine though.

I've ruled out the alternator and air-conditioning pump. Just the tensioner, roller and power steering pump to go.

It's not mega noisey but it's annoying.

Right, time to get serious..

Stethoscope out and working.

Immediately obvious... tensioner pulley at the bottom of the engine. 077 903 341. New one coming out tomorrow

I might have a quiet V8 engine yet.

I poked around the other components while I was in there and they're all fairly quiet.

Where did you get it and how much you paid for it? I am looking to buy 2, can't seem to find under £30

That's the price I'm paying.

Straight to TPS with a little bit of trade discount.

I did think about pulling it off, getting the bearing number and looking for that but for £30.. I can't be bothered.

The Alternator was a little different. They're £100 all day long if you're lucky.

I was thinking the same but them being plastic and looking a bit dodgy already with a small piece missing from one I guess it's better to replace whole thing. Not sure you can get bearing out of plastic roller anyway without damaging it in the process.

My thinking exactly. If it was a metal roller... I'd be more inclined to re-use it.

Found them for EUR 25 here: https://www.autoteilemann.de/catalog...t/?q=077903341

2 of them plus a cambelt tensioner damper (077109246B ) with postage works out EUR 116 or £94, same stuff from TPS would be £166 inc VAT.

I was going to have a wife pick them up from Latvia coming back from holiday which would have been cheaper then TPS but it's way cheaper from the Germany. I have not placed order yet but probably will just trying to think of some other stuff I might need so that I can order at the same time.

Mine arrived this morning. I've just fitted it and I have a nice quiet engine... apart from my new sporty exhaust
