I'm not saying its not good value there, I'm just saying what do you get for your money there vs Chester Transmissions and what costs do they have at each for parts, especially gearbox oil, as the "suckypumpysquirtythingummajig" uses more that the system will hold in flushing ALL the fluid through and replacing it!

I thought Brian might have been along with the details. We definitely got a flush and filter change and Mackies had it on the invoice as a 'gearbox service'.

As noted in the MOT thread I'm now just going to have a "standard" gearbox drain & refill as it's going to be combined with sorting out leaky output shaft seals and the seal on the pan is also leaking - hope the bolts are all OK though.
Next Thursday if all goes to plan and using all Audi OEM parts and fluid.

Yes it resulted in a big improvement in my PF S8 - shortly before I sold it to IT, but there you go! Not sure how that is now....

All done and back with me, seems fine and even smoother, but I've only had a short drive.
Slightly cheaper than expected as they didn't need to replace the exhaust brackets (2@ £25 each + VAT!). Usually corroded to hell, the existing ones were actually in great condition and fine to reuse.  Still a bit of residual fluid to burn off, but there's virtually no smell now. The owner of the garage obviously had to take it out for a few drives in the process and said it was "a really nice example and drives superbly; well worth keeping".
