It's sad that the 3D option loses the street names.
Is it really that feeble it can't do both?

in 3D it does show the main road numbers, so M3, M25, M27 etc. I dont think the screen size and resolution lend itself to displaying what would be quiet small text on screen.

In my example it just doesn't bother me at all, dont need to see the streets but if you do i think you need to just press the center button and it switches to 2d.
It also depends and what zoom you keep your maps while navigating.

Snapdragon, have you got the newer mmi sw or not yet??
I could send you a 'complementary' 2012 maps and then you can see for yourself.

And this evening the car proclaimed "Check Navigation DVD", so its obviously very hit and miss. Will be putting the 2003 disc back in, when it eventually stops raining.

Manny, either clean the laser for the sake of it with a cleaning cd or cotton bud and alcohol and I will try to get 2012 or 13 full European maps send over to you maybe even tomorrow

Ridiculous question, but where is the drive for the navigation disc on an 08 with 2G?

Behind the left-hand boot panel, it says navigation on it and has a slot load optical drive with eject button.
