Rather a late update to this thread. Not feeling 100% whilst trying to get my garden in order before the weather breaks is taking its toll.

One of the niggles I have with the car reared its head again, just after I booked the ferry and the car into Mackies. The ABS and traction lights which have been bugging me for months, and which disappeared around the end of May have started up again, so not impressed. My early morning start (2:00am) on Tuesday would have been nicer if I hadn't been feeling like s*it. Ferry crossing was smooth and the drive to Glasgow uneventful until about 17 miles out. It was foggy and the traffic was down to 10-20mph all the way in and roadway signs mentioned an accident somewhere. Got the car booked in, and just ensured I was close to 'amenities' while I was out and about Wandered around Tollcross park and ended up in the library.

Anyway, collected the car and was told that transmission was showing slight signs of wear. They also mentioned about the lights being on. This is because of the Load Signal code, and results in a small 'thump' when put in Drive. Next stop was Asda Govan to fill up with LPG and then the drive back to Cairnryan. Once I got onto the open road, the car definitely seemed smoother with all the gear changes, but apart from the drive home, I've only been out once since I got home. To cap it all, on the Wednesday, I went out to discover my rear tyre flat, having just replaced it in July. Got it repaired, but managed to pick up a nail on my travels. I just need to figure out what's causing the Load Signal code.

Throttle body is a new one to me. Will have to Google that one. MAF has been replaced and checked in VCDS. All the vacuum pipes replaced and no signs of vacuum leaks anywhere (tested with spraying Easy Start). Brake switch was also replaced as that was suggested somewhere. ABS sensors removed and cleaned, and tested in VCDS. I even replaced the Fuel Pressure regulator and the crankcase valve breather when I got the car serviced a couple of weeks ago.

Could it be a faulty wire somewhere, as some of the error codes come and go for no apparent reason?

just beeen checking on line for a kit to do an oil / filter change

the site I use offers a kit from meyle which they say covers

5HP19FL and 5HP19FLA [ FOR S8 the kit is stated to be 24 instead of 19 ]

is that where the slight size differnce comes in ...between the 19 and the 24 ? presumably the 19FL and the 19FLA are identical dimensionally , so what is the difference

incidentally the kit is just filter/gasket/7 litres of fluid ...£200

I think difference between FL and FLA is that 'A' is for 4 wheel drive (allrad in German) and 19 and 24 are for different torque handling , bigger number - bigger torque. But there are different versions of each.

The ZF site gives a guide to service kits:
https://mediaservices.zf.com/Redirec...e7AoEFU%2Fk%3D
Its states that for the 4D2 and 4D8 (94-02) models there are two kits - one for the 5HP19 FL and FLA boxes and one for 5HP24A boxes. The 19FL and FLA designations are for 2.8s/3.7s and some diesel thingys whilst the 24A is for 4.2 Quattros/S8s W12s and 3.3tdi. The ZF part number for the full service kit is 8700 001 and 8700 003 for the 19FL/FLA and 24A respectively.
