Very nice and interesting to see you working with AHC-engined PF S8, just like mine

Better make sure the bonnet brackets and hinges are in good working order, predicting the new owner over using them showing off that engine.

Put the throttle body back on
This bizarrely complicated mess of plumbing is all for the brake vacuum, and oddly it just flaps about, which causes the bottom joint to fail and allow air past the throttle body which will cause misfires and poor running. The original one was quite badly perished at the bottom. I had a spare set of pipes so put those on instead and gave the bottom joint some extra support with some adhesive-lined heatshrink Then drilled a hole in the upper part of the intake tube (which is mostly solid apart from a couple of holes for the idle valve) and tapped it to M6 and then made a P-clip to support the pipework. Its nice and solid now so no more flapping about |

Alas no, the 5HP is going back in. I don't have the mk2 clutch pedal finished or enough parts for another manual and, even if I had those, getting a manual AHC ecu is impossible.

as a 2.8 AMX owner I'm jealous of the aluminum intake and better crank case ventilation pipes

That doesn't bode well for the future by the sounds of it - will that make any more conversions practically impossible, if such parts are unobtainable?

Did Audi ever make a manual PF or was it only after the facelift and 40-valve engines arrived?

Agate Grey/Platinum. Every option (I think) except electric rear seats, Tiptronic steering wheel, ski hatch, towbar & dimming door mirrors. e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course. (internal dimming mirror added later) 1998 (very early) Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec; ABS/TCS, Heated screen/mirrors, Aircon. Added Auto-dim mirror, Leather seats, Trip computer, Cruise control, OEM Ford SatNav with CD changer. And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850! |

I Agree, one touch of the pipes and they are toast!
