Default Antenna for GPS Navigation Open Circuit Fault

My 2010 4.2 TDI has a 00862 - Antenna for GPS Navigation (R50/R52) 011 - Open Circuit fault. An internet search indicates that this fault is typically associated with the navigation location being completely off by many miles, and the fix is to replace the sharkfin antenna. However navigation location is spot on in my car.

I want to fix this as I think/hope it's the cause of an ACC and Audi braking guard: Unavailable issue that I've got which coincides with this code showing up and from another internet search seems to be related.

Before I replace the sharkfin (4H0 035 503 A, £186 new) does anyone know if this fault code and an accurate navigation location are compatible? Is there anything else I can easily check before replacing the sharkfin? Thanks in advance!

It looks like the antenna can cause the ACC and braking guard to be unavailable. Some sort of fail safe if a module goes down.

Maybe it's still able to receive enough satellites to give an accurate position?

Thanks for those thoughts Pete! I'm very close now to ordering anew antenna: I have the rear headlining panel removed and have access to underneath the sharkfin. I've fiddled with the connections in the hope that it might miraculously fix it but no joy. I think I'll have to assume that the connections at the other end (at the head unit?) are sound unless it's an easy check and someone can point me in the right direction.

For anyone else needing to do this I'm following this video.

Just to confirm, issue was faulty sharkfin antenna - connecting a new unit allowed the 00862 - Antenna for GPS Navigation (R50/R52) 011 fault to be cleared and adaptive cruise control is now working again.
