Default Where is the Water Coolant Sensor?

I have a 2004 4.0l Diesel. The fan is running at full speed all of the time and starts as soon as I start the engine. No error codes are showing so I thought it might be worth changing the coolant temperature sensor.

Could someone tell me where the sensor is located and how I get to it.

Many thanks

With vcds go into the engine temp readings and see if the temp values look ok before you go changing things ........ could be electric fan controller fault ??

+1 on a Fan Controller being the likely culprit. I had this on a 3.0tdi a few years back.
If you unlug the power supply to the fans, it will stop your battery going flat. Fans will be driven by the mechanical coupling to the engine anyway.
The controller is located in the centre of each fan. I had to buy a complete used fan with controller as the controller could not be got as a seperate part.

Spot on Lee, I had the same issue on my(/your) car. The controller was integrated into the fan module and so necessitated the replacement of the cooling fans.
