Unblocking drains DEFINITIVE THREAD

Hi All.
I have at least two leaks.
First the boot is getting water in. The spare wheel well is getting water.
second the driver side foot well is getting water. water in right side cubby in dash also.
Any ideas?

For your first one, I'd check out numbers 5 & 4 in my first post in this thread (#4). More likely to be 4, as 5 would tend to result in a wet battery compartment.

For your second one, I'd check out numbers 1,2 & 3 in the same post mentioned above. If you hear sloshing, I'd suspect number 1. If it was the passenger side, I'd definitely look at number 8. In fact, just deal with number 8 regardless, before it becomes an issue.

IIRC, MJ/Michaela/Micky Jane made a batch of the boot cable grommets on her 3D printer. Might well be worth a PM to see if she has any left.

first time today to have a look.
regarding the boot, (we have new MJ gromets fitted) with my son in the boot armed with a torch.
copious water sprayed on the boot, then on the roof etc.
no evidence of water ingress. hmmm any ideas what next?


the front leak is strange, pours in on the drivers side..
cant see the tube by the hinge...

both these leaks are really serous...

Is it just the spare wheel well? i.e. are the two spaces where the battery and amplifier go on either side dry? Is it possible that there is a crack/hole in the spare wheel housing? Also, considering it just seems to be glued in place, maybe some of that has deteriorated. Is it time to put your son in the boot again, and then turn the hose straight up at the bottom of the car?

I know on mine that the tube on the drivers side is very difficult to see. I'd be tempted to remove the knee panel under the steering wheel, the fuse cover and also unscrew the fuse box assembly, so you can see as much as possible. Then, when it's dark, park the car nose down and to the right, open the sunroof and then put in a small quantity of water with a UV dye in it. After that, it's a case of using a UV torch to check the inside footwell and sides. Either the drain coming down from the sunroof has got damaged, or worse, become detached at the bottom.
