Car Lifts instead of lowers

Hi All,

Another odd issue, suddenly the car seems to constantly try and raise itself whilst in any driving mode, and in lift mode it seems to lower, then lift. If I select lift, and then select 'automatic' the car will lower to standard height, and then will lift itself again. It seems to cycle this when parked and moving which is causing the compressor to run a lot.

This started after I raised the car and then enabled Jacking Mode, but I then turned off Jacking mode (I can't remember why) and then put the car back onto automatic.

I have checked VCDS and there are no faults at all for the suspension, I have also checked for leaks and I can't find anything. When parked the car does not lower, even after a few days which eliminates a leak from a strut.

The only thing I have not tried is going for a long drive as another thread on this site said that can reset the struts. I will try this today, but other than that I am at a loss.

You could try sending 'carmel120' a message asking him how he dealt with his issue, which was the same problem with the suspension raising and lowering repeatedly, although he hasn't been active on the site since November 2023.

In the meantime I checked his posts and found one that details a recalibration via VCDS, the measurements we're a bit off on my car, so I went through the whole process.

Same thing, car just lifts and lowers the rear over and over again until the compressor overheats.

Update:
So I have checked and tested each sensor today, all connections are clean, and wires are unbroken, I even tested the movement of each sensor manually whilst watching VCDS and they all seem to report correct readings. I even checked the valve block and other areas for leaks.

I have noticed that the car will sit stable whilst idling and no one is in the car. As soon as I sit down in the car, it starts this cycle of raising and lowering. Any new ideas?
