Worn boot seal problem on D2
Hello everyone.
Boot seal on my D2 got worn and I replaced it with a new one from Audi. The new one was made of a bit stiffer rubber and I have to shut the boot lid real hard to be able to close it. In a year new seal developed a hole in the right lower corner. Bought new one, genuine Audi again, but it is made of the same stiffer rubber again, which is different from the softer rubber used in seal which came with the car. I'm sure it will only last for about a year or so... I kept the original boot seal and want to repair it. I've heard a wonderful word 'vulcanisation', but don't know who can actually do it in the UK... I'm sure I'm not alone with the worn boot seal problem problem. Questions: 1. Did anyone successfully replace worn boot seal on D2? What's the secret here? 2. Did anyone fix the original worn/torn boot seal successfully? I tired StormSure glue, but it does't work on boot seal rubber. Will peel off easily.
