Lane Change Assist Retrofit **Finally Resolved**
Hey guys.. I'm looking to retrofit Lane Change assist to my 2010 4E Sport Quattro. Just wondering if someone has successfully done this and if so what parts would I be needing.
So far I figured that I will need the following: Rear bumper ECU's 4L0910566B, 4L0910566C or 4L0910568B,4L0910568C Rear Bumper Wiring harness with Lane Assist 4E0971104AC New Wing mirror caps with Lane assist aperture Lane assist lights for mirror caps 8K2949145,8K2949146 New CAN Gateway Either 4L0907468C or 4L0907468H New buttons for the centre dash panel Is there anything else I've missed? thanks

You will also need the interior wiring to the correct points like fuse boxes etc inside the car, you will need to make that yourself as its unlikely you will find a donor harness.
So it will require study of wiring diagrams and buying the correct size wire and terminal housings and crimps. I assume you have access to etka and wiring diagrams? If you don't you should get that first. Sounds like quite a fun challenge, I shall keep an eye out for your progress.

Hello Del, Yes indeed I have access to Elsa and Etka. Have spent a lot of time studying them and keeping an eye off ebay as well for donor parts. I agree that the wiring will have to be custom which shouldn't be a problem as most of the power, ground and CAN can be reached from the rear of the car any ways. Only full length wiring would need to be from the 'Slave' ECU to the wing mirrors and the on/off switch on the dash. I'll post a picture of the wiring diagram so you guys can give me your input on it. Thanks

Seems like the prices vary wildly depending on what car they came off, shame because I bet you the hardware is the same it will just be the software thats different.
Bit of eeprom magic could save a fortune.

To clarify, is this 'side assist' or 'lane assist' retrofit ?
Side assist is the one with rear radars that will light up lights in the door mirror to warn of traffic in blind spot. Lane assist is the one that will vibrate the steering wheel if you are drifting out of lane ? Sounds like your kit list is speccing up for side assist ?

I have both fitted from factory and they are very different...
What you are looking to install Is "blind spot assist" or "side assist" Lane departure warning or "lane assist " is as IT said... Although there are two variants of the latter. . "Active lane assist " ( actively steers the car hands free to keep you in the lane ) And normal "lane assist " that vibrates the steering wheel when you start to stray over the lines... "essentially simulates the rumble strips found on motorways. |
