Motorway mpgs. If I stick to 70 then approx 30-32mpg.
Usually 26mpg.

City. average 12-16mpg, on a quiet day 18mpg
Twice I decided to went through a murder and I drove across London 36miles one way (morning time 6:30am-7:40am and afternoon 1pm-3:20pm), to check my best mpgs around city. 1st to 2nd @ 2000rpms, and other gear after that, shift up @ 1500-1600rpms, MPGS: 23 and 22
Pretty much the same as me.

Dual / Motorway: 31-33mpg
City: 12-16mpg

The 2nd trip computer has never been reset and shows the long term average as 25.something.

My D2 3.7 shows 24.9 on the long term trip computer as an average. I don't do many longer journeys in it that much but it's about what I'd expect

Yeah exactly Lee, I'm an ex sub 500 bhp Evo 9 owner, so I know how to drive at 7 mpg's at worse and 13 mpg's at best You fill it up but I still like to see frrom comparatives whether the number is high or low, where they come in respect to each other. After all I did look at the V8 4.2 Diesels and choose only not to buy it because of the heavier front feeling and the way the car steered, the fuel economy was not an issue as I'd already talked myself out of the Audi S8 when everyone reminded me that as a Transporter I'd being doing mileage which the S8 would swallow into my profits!

I was curious mostly because of the modding scene, know that at some point near the end of the year I would like to perhaps look at getting it remapped to the 300 bhp / 410 lbs that I've been quoted and wondered with others who've done various bits whether this improves or reduces economy, just curious if you like of Audi built the best possible car that they could as the time.

I personally don't think that's too bad at all! for a car that weighs as much as it does, and the non manual gearbox which always in car literature gets the better fuel economy, I don't think a life counter of 25 is bad at all.

Regards, Mark.

It's got full tints on all windows, and has the black leather interior. Remapped by Elite Automotive in Cornwall, giving an increase output to 290bhp/450lbs.

Options: Keyless Entry & Start, Bluetooth Hands Free, Quad Zone Climate, 3 Spoke Sports Tiptronic Multi Function Steering Wheel, Black Leather Comfort Seats, AMI, Drivers & Passenger Electric Memory Seats, Auto Dimming Mirrors, Bi-Xenons.

Future Plans:
Selling my current Audi A8 Quattro Sport and replace is with a newer D4 Audi A8L with the 4.2V8 Twin Turbo setup once again it must be black. I'm looking for one with the options added where it has the rear recliing seats, with heated outers. Bose speakers minimum and B&O's if affordable. Rear and back door sun blinds prefered.

Planned Mods:
Upon the arrival of my A8L D4, I will be once again having the ECU remapped to a performance setting over economy. Rear Tints as dark as can go whilst also tinting the front windows with a medium tint. Once again I will be purchasing lowering links for the air ride suspension and setting it at 55mm lower when in comfort as my desire rideheight over standard. Alloys will be 21" however the one current most likly to be the next car already has a brand new set of 2016 S8Plus wheels on it.

Hi Mark, I agree with you that it's not bad at all. The missus don't agree with us, she keeps hinting that we should get a Citygo or Up!

First decent trip in the S8 this weekend, a 300 mile round trip to Hamilton. Checked the consumption today after filling up and seeing 22.5 MPG, happy with that to be honest, the D2 wasn't that much better during many times doing the same journey.

The day at Gleneagles on Sunday is another story, once in a lifetime stuff, superb occasion.

The S8 and Gleneagles sounds like an unbeatable combination Ron!
Glad you had such a great event to drive to in order to get back in synch with the car!

Got a lift from Hamilton to Gleneagles and back Neil but the event was superb, never to be forgotten. The drive up and back to Hamilton was something I've been waiting for since it broke and it exceeded expectations mate, such a cruising car but with real grunt when required. Such a fantastic place to spend a few hours, and the wife even started to appreciate some of my music when heard though the B&O. The heated seats are always a winner too

On Saturday just gone, drove to Edinburgh and back and got the best yet to a tank - 240 mile on 53 litres of LPG @ 69.9p
On the Sunday, my wife went to Manchester and back and again we managed to get 240 mile on a tankful so pretty pleased with the cost per mile we are seeing.

My D2 S8 does about the same as this.

And you know what ... I don't care! I love every minute of its growling and guzzling

My average is probably around 20mpg. I can push 30mpg if I nurse it, but that rarely ever happens. I love driving it and I'm addicted to the growl the V8 makes when driven quickly.

My S8 is my daily driver and my IT Support vehicle. Most of my IT work these days is done remotely, but I actually look forward to getting emergency call-outs to business customers because it means I get drive my car again. Sure I could probably save a fiver or so on the cost of travelling to a customer's site if I had a Fiesta, or some such noddy car, but where's the fun in that? Besides, I can just add a little more to the customer's invoice to cover my petrol costs in most cases.

And to be fair, I think the engine does an amazing job to propel so much weight so quickly and so smoothly. I can remember owning underpowered 80's bangers half the weight and CC that used more fuel than that.

Exactly! I don't really care that much. Fuel economy was way down the list when choosing a new car. I've over insulated our house so that more than compensates my green credentials!
