What I've been doing today - R8 inside
No, not a father's day present, but a birthday present from my wife which I've only just got around to doing. In fact the gift was a Porsche 911 Turbo Driving Experience, which I did first, and the R8 was, well, just there...and it would have been rude not to...

How was the R8 compared to your S8?

It was OK
Now, don't get me wrong, the R8 is a stunning car, a nice place to be, very smooth, but....
Difficult to compare with the S8 as I haven't yet taken delivery of her, but from the short drive I had with Ian last week the R8 didn't feel as responsive (it was the tiptronic and really had to kick down to get the most out of it) and really didn't feel any faster. Obviously, a totally different drive but back to back with the Porsche I'd choose the 911 for driveability but a totally different story when it comes to looks (and the interior of the Porsche is tacky). But I suspect a back to back with the manual R8 would be quite different.

I've driven the 997 C4S in the spotless section a fair bit and it might not feel a hell of a lot faster than the S8 but then you look at the speedo and OMG it really is silly fast

As you can see, this was a 996 and a turbo but it certainly didn't feel as fast as the S4 (nor did the speedo tell me that)
