Default Mannyo's 2004 Audi A4 B6 1.8T Sport Cabriolet

So I picked up this A4 Cabriolet the other day.

Silver Metallic,
89K miles
Red leather
Bose

The original invoice from 2004 has the total price (with options) at just just under 29K (2004 prices). The first owner spec'd the red leather which was a 1K option at the time along with sport pack, heated seats, Bose sound, upgraded Stereo with CD and cassette player.

The car has some issues, but the current list of things to sort

Tyres x4
Replace broken rear springs
Fix sticking offside caliper
Needs a good clean inside
Needs a good clean in the engine bay.

Thats about it for now.

Pictures.

Quick update on the Cabrio

So it transpires this poor car had a lot more wrong with her than I thought although nothing that has cost too much to fix.

It had fuelling and running issues, all related to the vacuum lines and engine breather system. All these are finally resolved and the engine as of today is running better than ever, it actually idles properly now and does not misfire anymore.

Despite all the problems, I've driven it 5K miles in three months and it's just coming up to 96K miles.

Only one mechanical issue remain outstanding from what turned out to be a big list.

Rear springs still need replacing. I've had a quote to replace them, from an Audi specialist using genuine Audi springs. Springs are £110 each, they want to use Audi parts due to the sport suspension.

And two electrical ones,

The Radio aerial booster in the boot lid has failed, discovered this after I fixed the aerial cable breaks.

The Check Engine light is AWOL and non functioning. Guess it's been tampered with in some way to mask all the fuel and misfire issues as it most definitely should have been on according to VCDS. Output tests show all the LED's working and visible except for the engine one.

At least the car is now almost fault code free.

Engine light is working now.

It was as I thought, someone had taken the cluster apart and unsoldered the LED from the cicruit board. I removed the TPM LED and soldered it back where the check engine LED was and all is good.
Light comes on with ignition and goes out when started, and stays out which means she is still code free. Now on 97K mies.

Hello everyone.

So a lot of months later, and a lot of things going on with my A4 Cabrio.

Put her in for the MOT last week, and she failed on the first go, however it was a simple fix in that she needed a headlight levelling motor. She now has full MOT until September 2021 with no advisories.

The miles have been racking up, and in my ownership its done more than 3 years of mileage at the previous rate of increase, now has 105K miles, up from 89K when I bought her.

Issues to date,

Several leaks in the vacuum system led to unmetered air entering the intake and excessive crankcase vacuum leading to high oil consumption. All fixed myself for not much outlay, just time.

Engine light LED had been tampered with to mask the issues mentioned above as the CEL should have been on, but clearly was not. Again fixed by me, took cluster apart and replaced the CEL LED with the one from the TPM position as my B6 does not have TPM.

Both rear springs were broken, and one rear damper had failed. Had both rear springs and dampers replaced at an Audi Specialist in Dorset.

Was not expecting the headlight levelling motor, but that was an easy fix by the MOT station, they fitted a new motor.

Next on the list.

Cambelt kit and water pump and
Replacement roof most likely from carhood.com https://www.carhood.com/soft-top-dir...udi-car-hoods/

Another quick update on the B6, had full cambelt / water pump / tensioner and aux belt replacement a few weeks ago so thats another tick off the list.

The roof is still the original, not changed yet.

Got some click and collect furniture last week and had to put the big box on the back seat and drive home with the roof open in the dark.
