Default Radio code VW

Hi I'm not sure if this is the right area.

My son has just bought a VW Phaeton. Its a lovely car but will need the battery disconnecting to do some work. There was no radio code supplied with the car but some have suggested it will be on the build sticker. I'm not sure if that is so. I know its not an Audi but I'm hoping someone clever on here may be able to help.

Removing the radio is an absolute last resort as its a pig.

Thanks in advance guys. Steve.

I think it should be OK, I think it only needs a code if moved to different car. It's the old cars that needed code even if still in the same car but battery died or was disconnected.

For the D2, the radio code is inside the front cover of one of the manuals, perforated so it can be removed. That's assuming you have the original manuals for the Phaeton.

Quite often the code is missing from the manuals (especially VW)

I use a guy on eBay, you need to send him the serial code off the side of the unit and i think its around £6

But as ainarssems has said, it will probably be okay.. usually just when put into another car it will need a code.

Good luck!

Thanks one and all for your replies and advice.

I think I'll take a punt and go ahead, worst case scenario is I have to get a code afterwards.

Steve.

Batteries disconnected for a few hours today and all came back to life on re-connection.

Driver's seat raise/lower function had failed so seat had to come out to effect a repair.
