Default Treating Her Outdoors

After spending much more money in the last year on the big lady outdoors than I have on the little lady indoors, I thought it'd be interesting (and somewhat reassuring) to record our collective insanity by sharing the things we do above and beyond essential maintenance.

So, what have you done/spent on your '8 lately?

(leave costs out if you prefer not to divulge your spending).

Here's what I've done ....

About 8 months ago I had the following work done:
  • Bonnet repaint
  • Front & rear bumper repaint
  • Replaced a couple of damaged chrome trims
  • Replaced (with new Audi part) missing lower engine tray
  • Replaced (with new Audi part) faulty siren
  • Machine polish
  • Alloy refurb (all 5)
  • Interior/leather refurb
  • Fitted an after-market TPMS

Which all came to somewhere in the region of £3K

In the last few weeks:
  • Replaced all suspension arms/links (with OEM or better) - parts cost ~ £700
  • New shocks (Bilstein B6) - cost ~ £500
  • New discs and pads (Brembo) ~ £250
  • Full service, inc plugs, brake fluid, PS fluid, etc
  • Numerous other small jobs

With labour, came to over £2.5K

I think I need to find a cheaper hobby

Not a vast difference, though I've only had the car back a few days, and I've not had chance to do any 'spirited' driving in it yet. On the few short b-road journeys I've made so far, I would say the stiffness is more or less the same as the originals.

And it's hard to say how much of any ride improvement can be attributed to the shocks because of all the other suspension work I had done. In that respect, it feels great now though; tight as new again!

Had i kept mine, i would have put stiffer springs on it to really complement and feel the difference - eibach maybe as i just didnt get enough grin factor back from all the work i did (new front arms and shocks).
