Help needed With S8 heating
So yesterday I got in the car to go to work and there was no heat what so ever from the blowers?
Stone cold, even after the engine fully warmed up, and coolant tank is full. I have done a full vcds scan with only 1 fault on HVAC "Function limitations due to missing messages" I am told the S8 has 4 radiators and a series of valves that open and close allowing the coolant to flow to various places as and when required. Also there 3 or 4 additional electric coolant pumps and after run pumps etc.. I have no diagrams and nothing to go by ... day two in a cold misty S8 is not so fun... any help would be appreciated 2014 S8 factory standard KR Ian |
Take a look in the D4 Tech Dump which is HERE and there should be "Service Manual 26 - Heating & Air Conditioning" +++

Thank you for that. I did see that and look through and could not see what I am looking for. Seems to be a valve block that controls coolant flow to the heater core that causes the issue and it's the location of this little devil that has eluded me

See existing thread on heating in "D4-Everything Else" section
Electric Coolant pumps are prone to failure. http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/showthread.php?t=12290 |
Can you post a vcds scan of your car?
The missing messages sounds like a problem on communications. |
Oh how embarrassing. .... it was my own fault... on my 4.2 tdi I coded in Auxiliary heating because even without the burner, the 4.2tdi has electric heating in the vents because of length of time it takes to heat up the iron lump. The S8 does not have the electronic elements like the tdi. So when I coded it in, it shut off the valves for the coolant to flow to the cabin. So I've coded it out and all is good now +++
700+ ponies under the bonnet and no heating, what a disaster.... |
Good stuff. 700 ponies I bet that's fun to drive
