Default Serpentine tensioner

Hi, new to the forum, just got myself an s8 d2. In the process of doing the timing belt, water pump and thermostat. Got those bits but need a serpentine belt tensioner. I've checked out the usual places but they don't seem to do them. Any idea where best to get one?

Are you doing all the idler pulleys and rollers? Do you mean the "Tensioning Lever" (aka "Clamping Lever") or the "Eccentric Adjuster"? I got all OEM parts ordered by my indy mechanic who got them thru TPS.

There's a Febi Bilstein one here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FEBI-BILST...4AAOSwuhhXUVMG

If you have a friendly mechanic with a TPS account then it's worth getting a price on a genuine one: 077903133E

The roller is the same as on a 2.7 Hyundai engine if the tensioner part is still ok.

Not sure thats the correct one Mikki? The photo shows all the parts and their numbers taken from my D2 S8 and part and number are different. The part names show the names as taken from ETKA which uses different terms in different diagrams and text!!

Serpentine belt is the accessory poly-v belt, not the toothed timing belt

The tensioner is this beastie:

Yeah thanks guys. Its the v belt tensioner I'm after, managed to sort out the timing belt kit. The eBay one looks the best bet, thanks.

Also, with regards the timing belt, got the new belt on and rotated the engine over a couple of turns but the belt if loose on the lower right side. I've read a few of the guides and they seem to have slightly different ways of doing the job.
I'm guessing I need to adjust the tensioner pulley right side?

Any advise would be great.

Ahh, this is always a problem when referring to parts by such terms- even if that whats its called in ETKA! The toothed timing belt is certainly serpentine in the true sense of the word!

Serpentine is a typically American term I think - you don't hear it in the UK very often. Etka calls it 'ribbed v-belt'. Most of the Euro manufacturers are similar - poly-v is a Gates thing I think, but is also used in Elsawin.

Milo - the timing belt procedure should be in the D2 tech dump so you can check everything: http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/showthread.php?t=9345

Exactly. I changed the "serpentine belt" on a Holden Commodore (Buick engine) for my son in law a few months back. And yes, it had nothing to do with timing - just the water pump, AC , hydraulics etc as the Buick L36 3.8ltr is a pushrod engine.
