Default Pdc

I've been toying with the idea of retro fitting PDC to my 8, particularly with regard to the rear of the car, as my neck isn't too flexible having a couple of prolapsed discs (motorcycle accident). Has anyone done this before and if so, what's involved...

More importantly, received a communication from a well known & established anti speed camera company. They offer a retrofit PDC which 'coincidentally' works on the same frequency, or rather wavelength (I know, v= f lambda) as the laser speed cameras/ guns disrupting their ability to get a fix on the allegedly speeding car. Has anyone any thoughts on this matter, or is anyone using a similar device?

if the device is dual purpose, ie a PDC or garage door opener, its legal in the uk as far as I know.

regards,

Richard.

Hi Richard

What I heard on that score was that the police now keep a register of registrations that have caused a jamming signal that has affected their radar/laser and that they cross-reference it across different forces. Once your registration appears "more than twice" then they would have sufficient grounds to visit you at home and inspect your vehicle to ascertain if it could jam radar/laser and if it is found to have anything fitted, remove/confiscate it and prosecute for "misuse". It may be legal to possess parking sensors or garage door openers but it is not legal to use them for jamming radar/laser and that is the problem

If you have a "garage door opener" jammer then the recommendation is to remove it once you have had more than 2 warning tones that it has jammed, for a period until that visit has taken place, and then "reinstall" etc but it all sounds like a lot of faff to me! I suppose this would be easier to do for a garage door opener than for a more permanently fitted set of parking sensors

Concur with the above. I have an aftermarket PDC front and rear. Cost £300 fitted by a local mobile technician. The work really well at the rear, bit iffy at the front as I have to remember to switch them on!

I also run a 'Speed Cheater' radar detector, that has save my bacon a couple of times or so......

Thanks for the heads up gents, they've just got no sense of humour have they when it comes to chasing revenue, rather than pimps, drug dealers and other assorted criminals that have victims attached to their activities.

Yep.. If you have a smartphone with GPS.. You may want to look up an application called 'trapster'. Works worldwide and will warn you within up to a mile of a site which someone has logged as a scamera location.
