i test drove a 2005 rs6 avant and then the w12 2004 was very quiet inside and full of toys very very nice car insurance for me on my audi now is £900 fully comp a year but the only quotes i hade for the w12 were £3400 and one for £5600 way to high when the w12 i was looking at was £18.000 was too much but one day i will get one.... by the time i do it will be old tec and somthing new will be out haha

the w12 felt much faster then the rs6 power was just no effort at all it was instant, but the rs6 felt like there was a delayed reaction for the power to come in, maybe its just because the w12 was so refined that i thought that the rs6 was just not as good at all fuel consumption is the same as rs6 nearly so for the sake of 5mpg more or less i would go for the w12 any day much much better car

Having taken a wee spin in said W12. the power just keeps coming.. no drama, no noise, just the stuff out the side gets blurry and the horizon gets close very quickly....

Very mature thinking - I hope it happens for you.

I've been looking at Merc CLs on Autotrader after seeing what Clarkson got for next to nothing

Might get one as a toy - need to be full AMG spec of course

Funny you should mention that Sloss

re insurance...... my renewal came through today & the thieving gits want another £100 a year, a 25% rise!

I was annoyed enough last year at £420 full comp & a few extras.... time to see what I can negotiate methinks....

Can't remember if I've said this before but I needed to re-insure mine a few months back.

Stuck the info into Confused, Meerkat and Moneymarket etc and had a good comparison.

Best was £295 (I'm very old) with everything like Excess, actual cover etc taken into account for owner driver with no claims or convictions.

I then added my missus, with an SP30 (I was too busy talking and didn't see the 50 sign) and a Claim for about £1k for damage while it was parked (so she said anyway!)

Re-ran the quotes and they knocked £40 off

She'll never drive it - EVER - so find a woman to stick onto the Policy

I'm wondering if the changes recently mooted to stop ladies getting better deals will stop all that now

Mines the same - cheaper with SWMBO on the policy than me alone. And she'll never drive mine either

My significant other is Estonian. When I put her on my A8 policy, she had not driven ANY car for over 5 years, never driven in the UK, never driven a RHD car, zero no claims, driving on an Estonian (EU) licence (nor exchanged for a UK one).

At the time I was 38, 10 years NCD, paying about £600. Adding her to the policy reduced it to £400.

She drove it maybe twice a year for 2 miles.

*shrugs*
