apart from the facelift trim bits, I think they're mechanically the same.

I saw a W12 with 88k (approx) miles for sale recently advertised as just having had the engine replaced at a fairly horrendous cost. I didn't manage to find out why, but it made me think a bit of caution might be in order when considering a W12.

Some of the really early ones had a bad batch of chain tensioner cogs by the looks of it, though it seemed to affect Phaetons more.

mmm a lot to think about, seems the lower mileage is a better option but i thought they were fairly bullet proof, you can get a D2 with say 150k on the clock and it will still drive like its only got 50k on it, some input from Darren would be great having just bought one, i cant remember the mileage and toys on it or what he payed for it, the black one im looking at dose have a very high spec but as my full budget would be buying and paying for the insureance i cant really afford for anythink major to be going wrong and i wandering if i can get the price down by say 1k i could use that and spend that on it bringing it back up to spec ie, full service and sort out the Lambda sensor ect .
what do you think ?

Who is Darren ?

Cant tell you much. I bought the car in july last year for £12300 with just over 90,000 miles on it. It is a short wheelbase with adaptive cruise, sunroof, rear seat entertainment, extended leather, extended aluminium pack, exterior lighting pack, interior mood lighting pack, daytime running lights and other things that i cant remember. One thing i can remember is it has a 6.0 litre W12 engine that just pulls and pulls reguardless of what speed you are doing
Just been serviced by Ben last week including 12 denso irridium tough plugs and over 12 litre of quantum longlife oil. I need to go back to have my K&N filters changed as i got the wrong ones and at the same time i will be having a RE-MAP and speed restricter removed.
Since owing it i have had no problems and have now done over 15,000 miles in it including a trip to nurburgring and a few carefull drives on the autobahn
