Default FE S8 sell or break ?

Hi I have a final edition D2 on reg S8 AOC ( Audi Owners club ?) which I am considering selling to fund my next car .

The car is in Santorini blue which looks fantastic and beige leather ...

Mileage is currently 211k hence my dilema ..I use the car regularly still and love it and suspect its worth next to nothing to someone as a daily drive ... Is it worth selling on the fe rims and tyres , removing the brakes and then scrapping the rest ? I have just sold my wifes saab for scrap and got 1000 for a pile of ...
Seems a real shame to right off a car which has seen me through some great times , fully serviced etc etc but showing some scars ...

Thoughts ?

thanks , Steve

The car is most likely worth more than you think. I am not far behind you on the mileage stakes with my lowly 2001 3.7 QS, and have been quiet surprised by its value when I looked at selling on. Mine is even the same colour, with grey interior.

The wheels, brakes, interior etc. will make good money but the market dare I say it will be limited due to the ever dwindling number of D2's on the road today. Even the forum sponsors have expanded the range of Audis and other marques they are now breaking.

The problem will be perceived value, would I want to pay 1K for a secondhand set of wheels and tyres and put them on a car that is maybe worth twice that. The wheels will add no value to to the car, and be worth nearly half as much as the whole car. Same with brakes and other components, you'll need someone who is willing to to that and apart from here, the market will be small.

Think of it this way - it still goes, you like it and its worth bugger all really.

Keep it til you break it. Once you do, then you can sell the bits off it. They will still be worth the same money when the car is dead

Fully agree with Dave. Just drive the car until it literally falls apart or until you smash it. And then sell parts. This is exactly what I do. Never sold a single car in my life. That's the rule I enforce -- I only buy cars, but never sell them .

Of course every car is only getting newer with age ***if properly looked after***. This is bleeding obvious Neil.

Hi Gary

I will post some pics up of the car . In short there are a few scapes on the body but nothing serious and no panel dents . Unusually for a car with this mileage it is on the original box but is due for a flush . I have heard loads of horror stories but they guy I have had the most sense out of says these boxes should be bullet proof ? But everyone seems to have an opinion ..
The car was serviceds by mainly Audi and a couple of specialists uptill 180k then I realised from being on this site what a rip off it was if it was only oil changes and filters .
Wheels were changed at 170k miles and brakes at 140k ( full callipers /disks and pads )
Leather is almost perfect , carpets are beige with another set of black audi mats over those and Audi rubber mats over those ...

Things that annoy me .. leak from bulkhead / aircon overflow .... audi pages show how to fix this .... boot lid warning lamp comes on sometimes when it is clearly closed .. thats it ...

Suspension .. seems fine but at 210K Im sure new shockers would make a differnence .
And thats why Im struggling ... its totally reliable , I never have to think about wil it start / get me there .... just how much petrol will I have to put in but youknow that . I do a commute to Heathrow each week and get short of 25mpg ... and average 22mpg with town work over a tank full .

So let me put the pics up and see what you think .

Steve
