Even better, the Meeting of A8-Germany is on the same date (talking about great timing ) and is quite close:
around 70km away, east of Kassel.

The car has been serviced and the spare discs and pads have been procured. Just need to get the breathalysers.

Darren, are you bringing the site radios again?

Breathalysers ? I think france scrapped them. We are very close to france and after some turmoil because they couldn't provide the market with enough of them and after they ripped people off enough (5€ per piece !) they declared them not to be mandatory anymore.
So I was told.

ADAC (AAA cousin) says so too:

You have to have them, but there are no fines anymore.

Yes you are right ....

January 2013 - Drivers in France have been required to carry a self-test breathalyser since July 2012 with enforcement by fines originally planned for 1 November but subsequently postponed to 1 March 2013. Now the French government has announced that the implementation of the sanction (fine) for drivers not carrying a breathalyser – a fine of €11 – has been postponed indefinitely.

So you are still required to carry a self-test breathalyser when driving in France but there is no current legislation demanding a fine for non-compliance.

Oh for future reference I found this on the AA website
