They're sensitive, but this isn't advertising the actual breaking of the car, just asking whether it was worth the hassle/cost, so I'd see it as a completely different issue.

Every car I broke I got more for it in parts than complete.

But the cars have been fairly high spec with nice load of extras to sell on which helps.

Less extras on the car the less money you're going to make (obviously) but if time and space is not a factor you could do ok out of it.

Wow! That much, Guy? I have a large double garage, and a large single carport, so storage space isn't an issue.

Only problem you have is it always sounds a fast fix for cash but believe me ... you will sell the engine and box in maybe 7 days on ebay.. the rest could take you a year to sell .. D3s are coming off the road and D4 replacing them now so demand for parts is very low and if its a base model you have even less hope sadly .. if your getting rid and want the cash id consider just selling it whole cash in the hand is better than parts on the shelf

I think as said, it depends on the spec. If you have a later model with all the fully-equipped kit, you will make quite a bit as some people like upgrading and updating (>2007 tail-lights a prime example) but few people will fit spare parts older than their car.

It's a high-spec car, not much missing from a UK-spec options list.

I think the example pricing is optimistic, especially for private sale with no reputation or warranty (no offence!). PF twin grill cars have dropped in demand quite a bit recently.

Factor in marketing to a niche audience, shipping, payment charges (not everyone will pay cash, or collect), the effort to dismantle, wrap, weigh and ship and then the cost to scrap all the bits that are left over that wont sell and its a juggle.

On paper, you will likely net more money for it in pieces if you place no value on your time or effort, but in reality the effort to dismantle & store a model of car for the first time, carefully and without damaging it in the process is quite labour intensive.

Happy to have hosted the discussion, but this thread is closed in line with similar threads as we prefer to discuss cars that are staying in one piece on this forum
