Default Refurb 19's the right way

Hi All,

I've got 19" BBS which have been sprayed up (previous owner) but I think they look a bit.... Hmmmmm

I found a pic of a wheel finish I really like - can anyone tell me anything about the finish and the bolts etc

Ta.

I have to replace the tyres soon - so I thought I might get a slightly bigger tyre wall for comfort... (I'm not much of a racer anymore)
currently 255 40 r19 - might go for 255 45 r19

has anyone tried this/do you think it will cause any problems ?
(I understand about the speedo being a little out)
Ta

It won't cause any problems on a D3 - there's loads of room. As long as you do all wheels and any spare at the same time then it will be fine and as you suggest just slightly throw the speedo out a tad.

They are 3.64% bigger, so the speedo will read LOWER by that ratio, about 2mph at 70.
Most speedos (dunno about a D3 though) overread by up to 10%, though that will depend to a slight extent on the level of tyre wear. I believe showing a speed lower than actual road speed isn't legal.

e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course. (internal dimming mirror added later)

And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850!

It's the other way round HP, speedo showing a speed too low is definitely illegal, showing the speed too high is not - you wouldn't want your speedo to be showing 50mph if you were actually doing 60mph through an average speed camera section would you?

Nobody can confirm as it varies from car to car, the only way to test accurately is to check your speed is on decent handheld sat nav or other similar device

Cheers Sarg. I've got a 'little' time before I have to replace the tyres...
I might go on a fact finding mission to test my speedo ;O)
