Default Cd changer error?Options please..

A8 4.2 1995

Each time i press the mode button on the standard stereo it just comes up error. Doesnt even try to read discs.

Any ideas? Can i use an ipod on the cd changer lead?Is that possible?

I do miss the sound quality of the cd changer through the bose compared to the radio!

It is the rectangle delta radio BTW

There are various devices that can be used in place of or alongside the CD changer, depending where/how you wire them in. e.g. XcarLink.

Where are you? I have a spare CD changer that a member here gave me some time ago. Easy enough to access in the boot and swap the leads over to test.

I'm getting exactly the same problem on my S8. It started as an intermittent problem on one or two discs and would clear itself. The other day an error message came up on all discs and now it won't clear. Is the only answer a replacement changer or is a fix possible? It couldn't have happened at a worse time as I'm leaving Dubai and coming back to blighty so I'm selling the beasty.

If the mechanism has stuck then replace is really the only option, if the CD player is still loading discs before the error it could just be a dirty laser. I've had some success using these CD laser cleaning discs you can buy with little brushes on them in the past.
