Default Cable from parcel shelf into boot

My A8 D3 is going to be out of use for 4 weeks.

I have a parasitic battery drain where if the car is left the battery slowly runs down, I have a cunning plan to keep the battery topped up whilst the car is not in use (well I think I do).

My plan is to buy one these
http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/solar-powe...-charger-l58bf
and place it on the rear deck and run the cable somehow to the battery terminals. I don't think the 12V socket in the interior will work because the battery module may stop the power getting to the battery.

So the question, is there an easy route from the rear deck to the boot that does not involve to much disassembly (I dont have the ski hatch).

Morning Manny
Hope you well mate

How about the route which Guy used to feed the aerial cable through for his DAB retrofit?? No need to strip as much as he did, but it seems to be very easy and straight forward

Got the solar charger, tried it in the 12V socket within the car and sure enough the power does not make it to the battery. Solar charger outputing 17V on the volt meter, but battery voltage remained at 12.2V.

The cable run in the link Marcin posted looks to be the easiest way, although the charger does have quiet a large connector to try and squeeze through. Not sure I am going to have time to fit this in before leaving the car for the first 2 weeks. I only have a couple of hours in the morning tomorrow and then I'll be travelling 150 miles away from the car.

Hmmm...When you open the boot and take the trim off on the left hand side where the cigarette lighter is, whole side, there is a plastic trunking at the bottom, fairly wide, for all the electrics going to the boot area, how about that, is the cable long enough?? I assume this will involve lifting the rear seats.

Marcins correct, if you pull up the rear seat swab, being careful of the airbag connectors attached to the bottom, you should find space through from the passenger side into the boot area behind the left side boot trim panel.

You may have to remove the connector off the end to get it through though but I'm not sure.

The slack cable from the parcel shelf down could be hidden down the side of the seat back.

Not yet, car is 150 miles away. If weather is ok on Friday I may get another chance, otherwise I'll just have to deal with a flat battery when I return a few weeks later.

I know Scott has one of those, but the battery module still sits between the car and the battery.

I may well just plug mine in, I've got nothing to lose at the end of the day.
