Thanks for the information, very helpful. And the offer of a stencil, I'll bear that in mind. Presumably PF and FL are the same?

I'm going to have a look and see what I find, probably next week; not committed to any method yet. I would expect I can do a fair bit of cutting from inside the cabin (with armrest and flap down and headrest lifted) once the exact outline of the hole is identified. I can feel a fair bit of it already through the black covering material (cabin-side).

Steamship has suggested I take photos as I go and do a separate thread on progress. Just hope I remember.

1998 D2 PF S8. AgateGrey/Platinum. Every option (I think) except electric rear seats, tiptronic steering wheel, ski hatch, towbar & dimming door mirrors.
e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course. (internal dimming mirror added later)

And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850!

Don't car from car. Opening is too small for that.

Also, you'll need to remove sticky insulation material that is attached from cabin side. That insulation overlaps hole you cut. When seats are out you just remove that rectangular sticker and start cutting. If you work from boot you can cut through that material and leave remaining offcuts in place or try to remove it via the boot again when you remove aluminium rectangular piece when cutting job is over.

PF and FL liners are the same shape, but small holes for plastic clips to hold the liner are in a bit different places as far as I remember. It works perfectly as stencil. PM me if/when you need it.

I did.

Job done. No need to move the back seats at all and no problems with the "sticky stuff".
See this thread for details: http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/showthread.php?t=7005
And as noted there, the removed aluminium section will make an ideal template for cutting the hole in the boot lining.
All done now, though the boot lining was a bit tricky, as expected, see the thread for details.
