Default A8 Gone ...................

A8 V8T arrived
after two fantastic reliable economical and comfortable years I have changed the 8 for a nearly new 4.2d V8T Sport
What a beasty can't believe the turn of speed and acceleration this beauty has. Yet saw 40mpg back from the smoke yesterday
Pictures and spec to follow when the rain stops. Been looking for a swb version of this in Sport spec for ages.
I think I am now seriously in love lads
Cheers Glyn

Thanks lads
Enjoying every minute of it !
Swimbo is well used to my car addiction and i think if reincarnation was possible she would like to come back as one of my cars !
Personally i think its the idea of a good rub down with a chamois leather that appeals
Have to say though this engine is stunning and its hard to believe you have to fill it up with the black pump!
But whats this ad blu about i had never heard of it! Only noticed it on the first fill up...Seems its a mixture of urea and something thats injected into the exhaust to reduce emmissions again i suspect one more thing the AUDI dealers will be supplying at four times the actual price at service time. need to source some front mudflaps now as these d4's seems susceptible to stone chipping on the lower doors, i didnt put them on the last one till she had done a few miles and regretted it. Best price of £84 from Audi so far...seems the later d4's are slightly different to the earlier ones which can be had on ebay for half that!
Hopefully if the rain stops i will take some pictures but this weekend doesn't look overly promising does it?
Cheers Glyn

It's a diesel additive, quite new to passenger cars, which is roughly 32% urea and the rest deionised water. Forget buying it from a dealer, just go down to your local BP garage and they have 10-litre containers of the stuff out the front for £11.09 rather than £6-£7 per 1-litre bottle from a main dealer! I often drive a new S-Class for work and that car is pretty hungry for Adblue - swallows 10 litres every 4,000 miles and if the car thinks the level is too low... it won't start. In the S-Class it's refilled by taking the spare wheel out and just emptying the container in the tank with the supplied nozzle...

What year is your D4? Because it's possible that an Adblue refill is included in the first annual service. Then after a few years the tank must be drained then completely refilled due to crystallisation of the chemicals!

All to do with 'efficiency' although I'm not sure how efficient carrying around an extra 23kg of fluid is

We are just starting to see SCR (Selective catalyst reduction ) stuff being an independant , the Nox sensors and after SCR lamdas can have a bearing on how much add blue gets used though .....im still learning all this lot ........just more stuff to go wrong i think .

Add blue tank a gubbins that goes wrong ........... oh hum ....

Just p1ss in your tank. Comes to something when we're all happy to start touching urea just to run oil.

The ambulance has a LEZ compliant exhaust on it and i have to add stuff to the fuel at fill ups to help protect and regenerate the huge cat/dpf it has while keeping the filth down, stuff is £80 a litre. The true cost of destroying the planet i suppose. If you'r running tractor fuel then you have to clean it up. For the kids man, for the kids.
