Default Anybody shopping at costco?

I heard there are some good deals on tyres at costco. If anybody is shopping there can you have a look what makes they have and what are the prices for 205/55R16 or 205/60R16 winter tyres.

They only do Michelin really, and I didn't find them particularly spectacular prices.

noticed Kwik Fwit were advertising 25% off on the way home tonight, suspect they are so overpriced to start with though that they will still be over the top, then theres the muppets they employ as fitters, on second thoughts forget it

Yes. Nankang. Great. I inherited a pair on a car. They wouldn't wear out and I had to chuck them in the end, due to my huge enthusiasm for not going straight on when I turn the wheel in the wet.

If you go for them I'd be interested to hear how you get on, with the scenery

Always buy first quality tyres for a performance vehicle which an '8 is.

Then you have really only two choices:

Grip or longevity - you won't get both

There are plenty of tyre comparisons which have been properly done so Google for them.

Just my tuppence worth

H speed rating would be inadequate for an A6 - although I would generally consider Chinese tyres along the lines of leprosy on the desirability front, if they are the correct compound for cold weather use they may be OK for winter weather. Most problematic tyres from Asia in the UK come from the fact the compounds are designed to work at much higher temps than we experience, hence why they never wear out!

I find our A6 works perfectly well on snow with standard summer tyres - Continental Sport Contact, or currently Michelin PS2 last well. I paid about £400 for the last set in 17" so not much different to the price of those Nankangs.

Can't afford more then £250. For summer tyres I always buy second hand premiums. With winter tyres problem is that they age faster and 3 years is usefull life so it is hard to find anything decent second hand.

I know those Nankangs are a bit short of top speed 137 vs 130 mph, but car probably will never see more then 110 or so.

Difference between summer and winter tyres is huge and they are mandatory in many countries on continent.

I have now set my eyes on Michelin Alpin on e-bay with less then 1000 miles and seller have confirmed manufacturing date to be week 48 2010. Only thing is that I wanted 60 profile instead of 55 to give more ground clearance. There are some Nokian's at 60 profile on e-bay but they are already 2 years old .

Your thinking of doing 110mph in **** tyres?

as TOP says.

Nankang = ditch finders.

i wouldnt even put them on the rear of my drift car, where tyres can last maybe 1 night.

falken 452's are cheap and good enough its what i use on a D3

PS2's are expensive, good grip and last forever, but at nearly 250 per tyre, i avoid them.

Total contradiction there.... see my post above.

Yer get nothing for nothing!

To get grip you lose rubber - to get long life you conserve rubber so lose grip.

It's simple Physics
