Question my exhaust idea, in put required please :-)

ok so I’m looking at reviewing my quad system in January some time I would like to have the standard system put back on under the car cut down short so it’s out of the way and not seen with the tails extended to face the floor and a set of valves fitted to bypass through to the quads on the rear , I would like it to be silent and then at the flick of a switch send the gas to the quads and have the roar, lately I feel like the comfort has been compromised somewhat due to the low profile tires and the drone of the exhaust, the car just seems like it’s an effort to drive lately the tires seem to follow any pattern on the road they are 245/45/18 at the moment, do you think I could get away with 245/55/18 or 245/50/18 ? Thoughts would be great, don’t want any rubbing of arches also would this affect the Speedo by a large extent?

This is a link to the valves I’m thinking of for the exhaust

And this is a picture of what I drew up with what I have in mind, I’m no Picasso I know but you get the idea?

thoughts ? would this seem an idea that would work? with the cars removed there is plenty of room to shuffle things around i think

Mate, that would work very well I think; but hugely expensive?

Can you not adapt the system off a D3 s8 with valves and mufflers - with D2 pipework and bends... Basically the pipework you already have?

Maybe this would be even more expensive? I don't know.

Just a thought

Food for thought, i will have a look on the pricing, however i do already have the quad system on the car is more of a case of adapting whats there with the standard system thats in the shed,

You can also make switch for on-off auto for valve opening taking signal from intake manifold switch-over for the auto function

I meant switch with 3 positions: on -off-auto, maybe even 4 positions with 2 auto's 1 to come on with 2nd stage of intake manifold and other with 3rd.

Anyone know how that will 'sit' with the MOT people?

I always thought that an exhaust had to exit either clear of the sill, or the rear vallance, ie clear of the vehicle because of fume ingress or something like that

not to mention that it now would have 2 exhaust systems!

An old Zodie (V6) of mine had a mechanical cable pull switch to an exhaust 'gate', to a 'Thrush - outsider' and a standard-ish exhaust, it also had nitrous too

before I'm arrested by the 'taste police', it was a bargain, & I bought it like that (metalflake green & all!)

In my defence - it was a long time ago (early '80's)

Oh Dear

i do like the idea of 1-2-3 stages on the switch side

night train you are correct that any gasses that come from the engine must come clear of the valance,

so i might have to ether have it tap back into the quads so that the gas passes through both the standard system under the car then into the quads then have the switch over from std to quads however this would more than likely require 4 valves in total, or i could just see weather there are any fumes inside or not and if so have the pipes extended out , but im sure when the car is moving the gas would just disperse would it not ? and when stationary just switch to the quads to be safe ?
