Default Cannot calculate a route - now I can!

Some weirdness with my RNS-C that I think was triggered around swapping CD's (2007 Final Edition non-DX from England to Scotland).
It just refused to calculate a route, though otherwise all seemed fine.

I swapped around, even went back to my 2003 CD, no joy!

So I pulled the relevant fuse in the boot, waited, and put it back. No change.
The map display was showing me in the correct place and when I put a nearby destination in showed that too, but wouldn't connect them.

Then I thought - the car's on the drive and hasn't been moved through all this .........

So I started it up and drove backwards and forwards a couple of times - only about the cars length, I didn't go onto the road. And it started working with no intervention.

I don't totally understand the logic, but presumably it hadn't "attached" me to a road (or lost the connection while swapping CD's) but didn't complain or come up with an "off-road condition". Just moving backwards and forwards a few feet obviously made it think I was on the adjacent road and kick into life.

Very weird, but worth knowing if anyone has a similar strange experience.

2003 D2 FL S8. Irish Green Pearl/Beige. Solar sunroof, auto-dim mirrors, electric rear seat functions and extended leather. Ski hatch retrofit. Aftermarket reversing camera. DVB-T and XCarlink now removed as redundant.
2016 Volvo V40 T5 Cross Country (4WD) with ALL the toys including adaptive cruise etc. etc. Osmium Grey with Blonde/Charcoal leather interior. Polestar performance "optimisation". (A much rarer model than a D2 S8 by the way!) Oh, and a brand new engine at just under 30,000 miles on the factory one!
Finally: gone, but not forgotten.....
1998 D2 PF S8. Agate Grey/Platinum. Every option (I think) except electric rear seats, Tiptronic steering wheel, ski hatch, towbar & dimming door mirrors.
e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course. (internal dimming mirror added later)
1998 (very early) Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec; ABS/TCS, Heated screen/mirrors, Aircon. Added Auto-dim mirror, Leather seats, Trip computer, Cruise control, OEM Ford SatNav with CD changer.
And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850!

I've had a recent odd glitch with my BMW X5 satnav (2005 4.8is) which sounds remarkably similar and have read of a few similar occurences amongst factory fitted satnavs of a similar vintage over the past few weeks in BMW, Audi and other marques. Wondering if it has anything to do with satellite changes as they fall out the sky and are replaced or not, as the US is apparently not replacing them at the same pace as before due to financial constraints........some of the older units have software presets to the original satellites and appear to lose track for a while, later rectifying themselves as they lock on. Haven't driven the S8 for a while as have been using the X5', but planning to use the 8 as soon as I can do a driveway shuffle and get the 8 out and the X packed behind her, will check satnav then, its an RNS-D.
