Great MOD for D2: Transmission undertray + wheel arches side panels from diesel car
It is possible to retrofit D2 with transmission undertray from diesel car.
Why it's great? Because car becomes even more quieter and because of much better rust protection. Look under your car and compare your engine sump and your gearbox sump. Well, the gearbox sump is much more rusty than engine sump. That is because road dirt sands it and salt is eating in. Diesel cars had a benefit of separate under tray for gearbox, which is also soundproofed. Their standard engine undertray is equally padded with sound insulation material. Diesel cars are also equipped with additional slash guards/sound insulation shields that completely isolate wheel arch area from engine bay. These plastic parts create closed perimeter between standard plastic wheel liners and engine undertray. We only have holes for drive shafts and steering rack. Everything else is covered by spastic and soundproofing padded materials. Benefits are sound and dirt insulation of engine bay. Key elements of things to retrofit are highlighted on the picture. Everything is available from Audi or from German eBay if you want used parts. Here are some low quality pictures. I didn't remove wheels this time to make proper photographs of wheel arch side panels, but here we go: Both front and rear undertrays from diesel car are installed: Weird picture of front wheel arch where we can see pastic panel completely covering area which is usually open on petrol engine cars and a single hole for drive shaft. Will do better picture later when I remove the wheel for a need. Not publishing any parts at this stage as ordering them via ETKA is bleeding obvious. If you're seriously interested in installing this kit please let me know and I'll provide more detail.

Here's how gearbox undertray looks like. We need to cut rear peninsulas a bit
as cats on petrol and diesel cars are a bit different in terms of geometry. Engine undertray is also completely covered with the same padding material. Suspension system for undertrays is very thought through and reliable.
