Default MMI updated to 5570 - Problem

Hi All,

I have just updated my A8 from the 4220 software to the 5570.

The update is using genuine Audi discs, and they have been used on another car previously with no issued.

The first disc came up with an Error 152. I tried it again and it did the same thing. When the MMI restarted it did something with the bootloader and then ran the update just fine.

The second disc updated my Bluetooth module - I am super liking the fact my directory now gets my phone contacts. All went well.

The third disc did the same as the first. Error 152 at 94%. It restarted to the bootloader and worked.

A couple of things I have noticed,

The software version option is not available on my MMI anymore,
While the MMI is in English, the instrument cluster screen says the first warning in German before it swaps to English. It never did this before.

Otherwise I did not lose my hidden menu, or battery meter. I lost the trip computers but that is ok, the hidden menu enabled them again.

The AMI updated just fine and nothing slipped into CP.

Interestingly, my MMI screen displays the RS6 picture however, that could have been me cocking around with the MMI options with the hidden menu.

Any thoughts?

Also - for what has changed,

It works lots quicker,
The cd/tv & radio etc buttons actually swap the sources.
The nav already had the 3d option.
The AMI works better
The phone directory and contacts work properly and well
The SDS has more words and works better
Still no traffic channels but we cannot win them all.

Mike

Software version moved places in the menu, its now listed elsewhere and not where it was before. The exact location does not come to mind though.

TMC updates are on the navigation DVD and not the MMI update CDs, if you get a newer DVD it also does a software update.

Also.. run the CDs a couple of times, as some modules get missed for some reason.

And I've seen a few where the language has been defaulted to German and needs coding back to British in the dash and MMI.

Sounds dangerous - maybe try running an audio cleaning CD before trying again.

I jumped into the control modules with the VCDS,

The car is coded for English correctly.

I think, I will run the discs again. Today, the entire MMI defaulted to German, and I had to change the language back. After this, it hasn't shown me a single German message.

But I will find the time to run the discs again.

Ok, the car remembers its language now, so that's a plus. I put it down to a glitch in the system as the coding in VCDS is ok.

A new question, currently I have my own PF car and there is another facelift A8 at my home.

The facelift car does a couple of things differently though.

When started with the fingerprint reader, it shows on the MMI screen what profile has been selected. Mine does not do this.

It also doesn't beep endlessly when you turn the car off, as it wants me to lock the steering wheel holding the stop button. My car chimes until I shut the door, the facelift car chimes once only.

Is there a way to make this change?

Does your car have the finger print start, I'm guessing no? If it doesn't then it will behave differently as the fingerprint system stores different users to recall seat memory etc.

As for the gong is it because your headlights are on all the time?.

I can't check coding for you but a lot of quirks like that depend on region coding, so for an example coding the car for American market makes lights behave differently.

Thinking out loud is it a door ajar gong like the Americans have, that would drive me nuts.

My car has fingerprint start, which works correctly, it is just the facelift car has shows a screen with the profile selected in the MMI when the car is started. Mine doesn't.

As for the bong, my seatbelt man is off, and the door open bong is off.

The message while the chime for the steering lock is going says "Press stop button to engage steering lock"

I would like this bong to go away.

Interesting, mine chimes once for the steering lock, and the mmi screen shows user name when button pressed after a few seconds usually.

One of our D3's is doing the multiple bong thing for steering lock and others are doing a single bong, I'm going to look into the coding on the multiple bong one and see if it can be coded out as you have said it's very annoying! You have to hold the stop button down to lock the steering wheel then it shuts up.
