For Sale: D3 S8/W12 front calipers, red stuff pads and discs

Hi,

So after a really painful few months of finding a brake setup that i liked, getting bigger wheels to fit them and then taking the trip up north to Ben to have the brakes fitted, it turns out that my early FL setup (also found on many PF models) won't allow for the calipers to be fitted...even if the caliper mounts are modified.

So i'm forced to sell this set up for now and just want to get back what i paid for it - 550 quid.

The setup contains 2 S8 calipers, red-stuff pads and enormous 385mm grooved and drilled discs all in great condition with the discs and pads only having 4k miles on them.

They will fit some later D2's without modification as you can see in the tread here (http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php/318664-D3-S8-385mm-brakes-installed-on-my-D2-SWB-A8):

Naturally, they will fit the D3 :rolleyes:

damn really sorry to hear they cant fit after all that Oli :(
I guess that probably rules mine out too as an early facelift. . . but id be interested to talk to you and see. . .
On the plus side the wheel upgrade still looks great

A purely academic question here.... would they fit a late pre facelift S8?

I say its academic as I've just replaced all four corners with original Audi Parts (vented all round, and done less than 1K miles since) and I suspect a wheel diameter upgrade from the OEM 18" Avus's may be needed to fit the D3 brakes as well.

The will fit under 18s as the calliper is a lo profile type.

If you don't want them Richard I will have them.

Girling floating 2 pot 4 pad calliper in 2 sizes - 314x30 (A8) & 323x30 (S8)

Rear -

Girling Floating single pot 2 pad in 2 sizes - 269x20 (V8) & 245x10 (V6)

A&S 8 1999 to 2003

Front -

Teves floating 2 pot 2 pad calliper 360x32 - S8

Brembo monoblock single pot 2 pad calliper 345x30 A8/S8 (20" wheels)

Girling floating 2 pot 4 pad calliper 323x30 - A8

Rear -

Girling floating single pot 2 pad in 3 sizes 269x22 (A8), 280x22 (S8), 310x22 (Armoured 8s)

A&S8 2003 to PD

Front -

Teeves floating single pot 2 pad calliper 323x30 (A8)

Teeves floating single pot 2 pad calliper 321x30 (A8)

Teeves floating 2 pot 2 pad calliper 360x34 (Early S8s)

Teeves floating 2 pot 2 pad callipers 385x36 (some A8s, V10 S8s and armoured A/S8s)

Brembo monoblock 6 pot callipers 2 humungus pads 385x38 ceramic disks (Rich 8 owners!)

Rear -

Lots! Electric handbrake and sizes from 280x20 to 356x28(Ceramic)

Please note in the crossover years there may be some mules of the old model running the new brakes and new models running old brakes as stocks were run down. The introduction of the 20" wheels in D2 facelift may see some A8s with Brembo calipers (Final editions etc).

For Oli to fit his Teeves I would think he should just need to source the right hub carriers. Probably the aluminium ones. Note that the control arms may also need to be changed.

Well as mine is 99> FL and has 4 pads - that makes it the -

Which means I would have the same problem as Oli. . . damn! :(
I respectfully withdraw Oli, so it looks like unless youre changing the hub carriers/control arms then Psyche needs to start getting excited and visit the cashpoint!!

awesome overview mike. How would people feel about adding pictures to each one for future reference and then we can make it a seperate sticky? I'll try and get a picture of mine...fairly sure mine are the 314mm girling floating calipers.PsYcHe, i'll need to have a chat with ben to get his view on possibly changing the caliper mounts but will be in touch over the next few days mate.

Looks like I have the 360x34 discs on the front of mine (1LL build option) going by some fleabay auctions. If Oli can't get the hub mounts, etc (fingers crossed for you), and they magic their way to my D3, then my calipers will be up for sale (and discs, etc).. Pads and discs have done about 25k, so will likely be pretty worn.

i have the 2001 d2 a8 with the w12, and i am not sure what i've got for brakes... i am not sure anymore and the snow is quite deep at the moment, think i measured 355mm on the fronts, don't know what i've got for pots and pads...am in need of a brake job soon and would love to step up to brembo or some other better setup...what do i look for and where do i measure the discs from to...is it just straight across the dia of the disc?...anyway, are these gone... if they will fit, let me know please and merry christmas gents...kk
