View Full Version : Concert- Bose or not Bose?

Had the usual volume issue with my Concert, so I bought a s/h unit on eBay. Slotted it in- all well, everything worked- except that the display didnt say BOSE when you turn it on and the sound is really headbangin bassy!

Leads me to believe that there are two versions of the Concert- one for Bose units and one for not? (having done some surfing of Google- It looks like VAGCOM can enable the BOSE part- anyone know if thats right?)

Also- has anyone had any success in fitting the Concert 2 radio in place of the concert 1?

thanks allan

As per Brian's issue with a used RNS-D I suspect this is just a coding issue (his was the other way round!) so a bit of time with the necessary software will get it sorted.

Post where you are and I'm sure there'll be someone local to you

Yup, it'll just be the software coding on the unit.... A quick tickle with vagcom should have her sorted.

Thanks very much for the offer. As it happens the car is booked into the specialists who take care of it in Basingstoke on friday 8th as I am starting to have the dreaded lock up "thump" in the gearbox (Ouch!):-(.

So- following the sage advice on this and other sites, its going in for the full Audi oils/filter change in a desperate hope that this avoids a gearbox change. I also have the passenger seat sensor issue- so I am trying out the resistor under the seat solution.+++

Assuming all goes well, I just have to sort out the two front Chinese tyres ( why do people put cheap tyres on a S8?) and the corrosion on the OE rims- oh, not forgetting the cheap front discs (why do people.......oh never mind!!!:tuttut:)which have now slightly warped.

Audi S8- never short of a project!

Not sure buddy, nothing but the best (matching) tyres all round for my car and a good brake setup. Skimp somewhere else, not the stuff that connects you to the road and stops you is what I always say.

I'd second that Amar....

Am I wrong in thinking that Quattro needs you to have matching tyres, with matching (as far as you can) wear on each corner. Or you'll stuff the transfer boxes.
Apart form that. Yes Amar summed it up nicely.

What's the point in saving a few quid in your pocket, if you don't have a leg to hang it on

SJB Autotech at Basingstoke plugged in the VAGcom and configured the concert 1 to BOSE- so happy bunny!+++
Anyone tried putting a Concert 2 in a PF S8?

So this Concert radio volume thing......its happening on the later radio I bought from a well known auction site:mad::mad:

Anyone got an easy fit alternatives to the stock Concert 1- I am worried about getting something that will work with the Bose and handle those wiring plugs without having to splice in new connectors ( so a clip out/clip in DIN fit is perfect).

Any magic bullet solutions that you know of?

thanks allan
