Or get yourself LPG'd up and drive a nice V8 4.2 petrol - none of that dieselly silliness and still the equivalent of about 45-50MPG even driving around town! :D

I did a a bit of 'economy' driving last week from Newcastle to near Lincoln, 161 miles with my cruise set at 65mph on dual carriageway/motorway and 56mph on single carriageway, to average 56mph overall.
Now I do accept that my car doesn't have the transmission losses of quattro, but the result on the dash was hugely impressive for a 1900kg 265hp 3.0 diesel auto....60.1mpg That worked out to an equally impressive >53 real mpg. But then having done my sums on comparative costs of driving like miss daisy and my usual more press-on pace, I decided to stick to what I know and love, speed!!!! For the additional £4 it costs me to cover the same 100 miles, I'll arrive with a bigger smile on my face. |

You can sacrifice your spare and go for a toroidal tank, or some rear boot space and go for a cylinder tank. Mine's a 125 litre one, which I believe is restricted to 80% capacity. BTW: Forgot to say that I still have a weird issue with 'something', so the engine's not running perfectly, which is bound to affect fuel economy. |

Now a W12 LPG would be a tempting proposition!!!
