I'd never thought about an lpg conversion. In the back of my mind I suppose I have 'range anxiety' and I have no idea of the costs/benefits particularly in France.
We spend most of our time [less than 180 days - natch] in the Charente-Maritime [17350 TAILLEBOURG] where we regularly house-sit a logis for the Ozzie owners who have to depart for more than 180 days per year! |
sounds like a hard life!! :rolleyes: :D

Yes its hard. The windows are draughty but we don't pay the heating bills. The river Charente is at the bottom of the garden. 40km one way is deep into Medoc country. We drink AC Haut Medoc in bags at €4.10 per litre - around €3 bottle and 40 km the other is Cognac.
When we arrive, we come for ages, so an 8 with a huge boot is just the job, Still the Passat estate soldiers on. |
mmmm.... how about the next Annual Meet at your place? ;)
1. Accommodation +++ 2. Supply of table wine +++ 3. Cognac for after dinner +++ 4. Empty roads +++ 5. Oh, and sunshine +++ |
Sadly we only get the winters, but the fuel is a little cheaper. Its only 1500km return to Calais and €100 return on the motorway. See you next winter??

with regard to lpg costings , the combined consumption on an A8 3.3 diesel is about 10 litres / 100Km [ incidentally , the same as my gently driven motorhome ] a 3.7litre 230bhp A8 is about 13 ltres , and on lpg that would probably increase to 15 litres at worst ; however as lpg is roughly half the price of petrol , cost wise it would be like 7.5 litres |
