Default A few key points - please

Hi all,

Since our barge was trashed almost two years ago, we've kept a gentle eye out for the perfect replacement. This - in France - is a D2[FL] so not a proper replacement for a D2[PF]

http://www.leboncoin.fr/voitures/583678344.htm?ca=20_s

But I know nothing about these trim levels, particular foibles of the V8 diesel, things to notice e.g air suspension on 3s that might not otherwise be obvious. The pix imply the car is in decent normal condition and has a normal spec - plus sunroof.

I go to look next week, so any comments would be gratefully received.

Thanks

Only 16bhp

10k Euro for a D2, isn't that a bit too much or is it the most desirable version of D2??

I don't think its particularly desirable but it suits us - LHD, diesel for the long trips up and down France, decent interior spec, enough power at 16 horse power [which is some kind of French tax measurement] to keep up with the traffic.

What else could I buy for the money?

it looks really clean, but 10K does seem excessive

you guys are forgetting that used car prices in Europe are way higher than that we're used to here, 10k is probably about the going rate in Europe

presume you have checked the current cost of insurance

i was shocked at the prices quoted for my year 2000 sport FL 3.7 petrol 19cv...which is why it is sitting in the barn waiting to decome 15 years old when i can get a collectors insurance !

I just want to pitch in and say its way too expensive for a A8.
There are several S8 D2's cheaper than this.
Also, the dead give away of a self levelling suspension is a larger than normal power steering oil expansion tank. If it has this then stay away, air suspension costs £ thousands to replace. (I am currently replacing mine, its leaking and rusted).

have a look on mobile.de and autoscout24.com

here are 2 random ones, could be lower spec but mileage is similar.

or, you could get this:
