Issue Uploading Images To Site

Is anyone else having issues trying to upload images to the site?

I just tried several times and they all fail, despite being within size restraints.

I also noticed in another post from a couple of weeks back, the image I had attached then has gone.

I've taken the liberty of sending IT a message, in the hope that's it is affecting everyone, and not just me.

Working here

Firefox, W7

moltuae 26th November 2018 07:59 PM

Not working here. Tried Firefox, Chrome and Internet Exploder ... same error.

Edit: Same in Edge on Windows 10 too.

ivanhoe 26th November 2018 08:12 PM

I haven't been able to download anything from the D3 tech dump on my phone or tablet recently. I could previously.

tc4332 26th November 2018 08:22 PM

Strange.
Tech dump PDFs appear as a black page.
Is this Ian's version of the "Blue Screen of Death"?

Sorry Ian, it was the leprechauns that made me do it.

Just trying again with Edge on W10 (x64), seems OK, could it be ISP-related (I'm on PlusNet)?:

Delboy 26th November 2018 10:33 PM

I too get a black screen when trying d3 tech dump but strangely the D4 files is ok

I can't attach pictures either

steamship 26th November 2018 10:36 PM

Just to add some more info for Ian when he gets around to looking at it, and would ask others here who have commented to assist, as I've come across something else which may be more significant.

In addition to not being able to upload any images, I've also checked all the write-ups that I've done that included images and have listed two below:

1. Replaced alarm horn
2. Chrome Boot Struts

and of the five of them, one is NOT displaying any of the attached images, this being the Chrome Boot Struts one.

Could I ask you to check each of the links above and report which ones have or have not any images. I came across this irregularity whilst reading someone else's write-up. One further check which might help Ian as well. Here are two single posts from a thread in 2016, and in my case, I can see the images in the first post (#77), but not in the second post (#81). Can you check these as well?

Could you also add your OS, browser and ISP, just in case that may or may not be relevant. Thanks.

All working "normally" for me. W10, IE, PlusNet.

Note that "normally" means images do NOT always load the first time from clicking on a thumbnail, in fact quite often they don't and you just get a black window but with the next/previous controls visible. You have to try again sometimes 2 or 3 times. If there are a sequence I tend to click next, next, next until I go right round and on the 2nd pass they usually appear.
It's been like this for ages by the way, behaving today exactly as it has for a long while.
I've put this down to using IE which MS are slowly allowing to degrade. :tuttut:

Uploading images is always 100% reliable. And fully embedded images are OK too, it's just clicking on thumbnails that I often have a problem with.

Just checked and you're right. Despite the URLs being different, they are both showing the same post, number 81. I'm going to just copy and paste the links again to see if the same thing happens:

http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/showpost....4&postcount=77

http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/showpost....3&postcount=81

The first one shows the images, the second one doesn't.

NOTE: Have just tested the above links, and they work properly. I've also updated the links in the previous post, and also tested those to ensure they were working.

MikkiJayne 27th November 2018 07:28 PM

Ok I get the same - pics in the first post by Neeldub, nothing in the second one by Delboy.

Thanks all for the debug.

Seems the prolonged power outage at the weekend caused the forum server to go down harder than I realised.

The immediate file system corruption should be fine now, so files should upload and store consistently. Feel free to check.

It seems like some photos may be missing - I'll pull those back from the backups over the weekend all being well +++

Thanks Ian for getting to the bottom of the problem. There are a couple of threads in particular that I'm keeping an eye on, so will leave it until the start of the week to see if all has gone well.

Should all be good now if you can confirm ?

Switzerland in 1988.
I was a lot younger then, 20 years ago. I was only 49 and Gwen was 33.

Well spotted. Long tale but yes into the bank, saving the lives of 38 schoolkids, 6 teachers, my trainee driver and of course myself.
I'll do a write up of the story if you are interested.

Not a lot of people know that.

Wow. Well done Ray

Could've been worse. There could've been a bomb on the coach too, set to detonate when the speed fell below 50mph!
