Have you had the fault codes read?

Architex_mA8tey 5th August 2012 02:03 PM

Sounds like the tiptronic gear box isn't getting the message that you want to change from auto to manual from the gear selector so I would look at that first.
If the shifter picked up the change to manual when you move it to the side then the display would be changing to show manual gears.

nothing happend when i move the shifter to the tronic position
the problem must be in transmission electronic module or in shift contacts?can u explain to me?
as i told up the screen of transmission dosent apear in panel

What year and engine size is your A8?
There are 4 parts it could be I guess -

The gear lever selector itself

The Harness for the selector lever (Item 1)
http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/attachmen...1&d=1344224900

The gearbox ECU itself (item 1 on the pic below)
http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/attachmen...1&d=1344224369

or possibly the F125 switch (item 7 on the pic below)

The F125 switch is something known to fail more often, but you would be best advised to plug in a diagnostic cable and this may well point you in the direction of the faulty item

my AUDI is V8 4200 cc year 1995

architex can u give me aspecific answer

cerips 8th August 2012 06:55 PM

Get a garage with a diagnostic machine to read the error codes to diagnose what the problem is.

I was as specific as I can be in my answer above, unless there are any differences with a Pre Facelift model then its still scan first to see if any codes come up then look for one of the 4 issues in mentioned/listed +++

elvis 26th August 2012 03:19 PM

is any posibility to scan without using mechanical
pc ?

ainarssems 26th August 2012 03:37 PM

There are aftermarket standalone units but they mostly do engine only or you can get old dealer VAS5051 but they are costly. Best option is to buy PC cable and use it with PC/laptop. I mean you have PC to post on forum, just buy VCDS interface cable, you can get them on e-bay for less the £7 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VAG-GROUP-...ht_4444wt_1163, where is the problem?

elvis 28th August 2012 07:45 PM

Usually you get VCDS software with the cable or you can download shareware version here: http://www.ross-tech.com/vcds-lite/download/index.html or You can use VWTool software which I can e-mail if required. Once you get fault codes from car it should give more clues about fault.

elvis 28th August 2012 08:10 PM

ok send it to me via email @ elvisbuli@hotmail.com

Also have a look at this it will help you to understand how it works and also give you ideas how to use FWD only. Sorry it's German but al least you can check pictures and diagrams. It's for 4-speed gearbox and I think yours being 1995 is probably 4-speed but even if is 5 speed principle is the same.

Could be f125 switch, wiring or instrument panel as well, it's all just guesswork without scanning for fault codes

tallon 9th September 2012 08:28 PM

Yea I wish I had it that easy :P

elvis 11th September 2012 09:32 PM

ok i willl try to replace it but maybe too much work for replacing it

tallon 12th September 2012 02:06 PM

To replace the switch? How too much work?
