really would like a W12 section...
Any news chaps?
|
As you know I have recently discussed this in person with you Guy - to explain to others, my worry is that if there is a W12 section then why shouldn't there be an S8 section and then another section for each and every engine variant in each of D2 and D3 and D4. Or a LWB and SWB version of each!
My view is that there are many useful links and similarities in parts between W12s and all the other engine variants in the range. If users of the forum are to gain as much information as possible from each section then this would water down to some extent the shared part of that content in that some discussions on the W12 threads may well be useful to others with different variants. I will discuss it with David but would welcome input from others bearing in mind what I have stated above as I do feel that it's important not to water down content on the forum into to many sub divisions if at all possible +++ |
The W12's and S8's are variations on a theme, not themes in themselves, I think it's fine as is.

I agree but my argument is simply that from the dashboard back inside the car they are the same. Under the skin they are a different car. The W12 has two radiators .. separate cooling eliments. Most pumps are all in different locations. I mean come on ...
Mind you perhaps I am the only person interested in DIY on the W12. . After all most people would just take it to a garage and fit the bill afterwards I guess. Ah well scrap the idea then. I have other ideas now +++ |
As a workaround you could keep everything as is and make a index thread to the posts that are w12 relevant.

The W12 is simply a different engine variation, its not a different model. The interior, exterior and spec remain the same throughout the D3 range.
At a push, splitting the engine section into petrol / diesel would be about as far as I'd want to take it as those are really 2 very different technologies, but I'm not really hearing much feedback that people are needing that right now... |
